Relationship Development and Healthy Sexuality - ASHA CE’s

Shana Nichols, Ph.D., Clinical Director, Researcher ASPIRE Center for Learning and Development specializes in adolescence and growing up, dual diagnosis and mental health issues, and the experiences of girls with autism spectrum disorders.. She has extensive expertise in cognitive and diagnostic assessment, treatment, consultation, and family work. Dr. Nichols also conducts applied research associated with clinical programs. She is the author of the book, Girls Growing Up on the Autism Spectrum: What Parents Should Know about the Pre-teen and Teenage Years.

Sexuality education for individuals with ASD is critical for enhancing quality of life. This training will address how to help individuals with ASD achieve healthy sexuality. Case presentations and materials will be shared providing practical skills to create an effective sexuality education plan for individuals with ASD. From assessment to instruction and evaluation of progress, this training will guide participants in developing a solid plan and a practical teaching toolkit and accessing available resources related to sexuality development and learning.
