Clinical Services
Under the direction of SARRC's Vice President/Clinical Services Director Daniel Openden, Ph.D., BCBA, SARRC's intervention programs and supports are based on best-practice models. SARRC currently offers a broad range of programs for a large number of families with children with autism. SARRC's goal is to develop a comprehensive, integrated model by building excellence into each of its programs. Building excellence implies relying on evidence-based interventions and collecting data to drive decision making.
Intervention Programs and Supports:
JumpStart ™
Teaches parents of newly diagnosed children about the characteristics of ASDs and how to begin improving communication, reducing problem behaviors, accessing state services and coordinating with service providers. Also supports skills development for children with ASDs in school and community settings.
Parent Orientation
SARRC provides information and guidance to parents of newly diagnosed children. Ongoing support is also given to parents as they deal with issues concerning autism spectrum disorders (ASDs).
SARRC Community School
These toddler and preschool programs provide early intervention for children with ASDs alongside their typically developing peers in a classroom environment.
PARENT Program
Provides parents/caregivers with a basic understanding of how their children communicate and how to facilitate language development. Parents/caregivers learn and practice strategies for increasing and improving their child's communication and social interactions while decreasing their child's disruptive and/or self-stimulatory behaviors.
Specialized Habilitation
Highly skilled behavioral interventionists provide an individualized treatment plan and ongoing support in this parent-based, in home training model for children four years and younger.
Speech Therapy
SARRC's speech-language pathologists work with parents to formulate goals and tailor individual speech therapy sessions based on each child's needs.
